Come on, admit it – We all know that children have a far better idea than us of what life is really about! Their innocence and connection with the Universe allows their ideas to flow more creatively than us adults, who try to hard to impress or are repressed through fear.
I asked my seven year old daughter to share 20 tips for a better world. Please ask all the children you are blessed to share your life with to add their ideas, because with their help, We might just be able to save the world after all
1- People who are homeless, share your homes with them.
2- If you think things are rubbish, say they’re good anyway. You’ll make people feel good.
3- Don’t use bleach or CIF cream.
4- Give money to the children who have to make t-shirts instead of buying them from companies who use sweat shops.
5- Turn things off when they’re not in use.
6- Write down special notes to remind yourself how creative you are and read them if you feel sad.
7- Don’t just get cross or be horrible to people; think of a better way to treat them.
8- Only recycle things and don’t put them in the bin.
9- When people are unkind to you, just go into a different place in your body. There is a special, loving place inside everyone; you just have to find it.
10- When you want someone to help you, ask them sweetly and kindly.
11- When you don’t feel safe, ask your angels to protect you. It doesn’t matter if you feel lonely or not lonely, you’ll never be alone.
12- Things that you don’t want, give them away to people.
13- Talk to your spirit and heart lovingly, then you get a better response.
14- Every day when you walk through the meadow don’t pick the flowers – just look at them and think how beautiful they are.
15- When nothing is right and you don’t know what to do just go and play with your faeries and angels.
16- When daffodils are not open wide enough, look at them and see their wonderful beauty and think how nice they will be when they are out.
17- When tables have a hole in them, just put something else on it like a pretty flower and it will look as good as new again.
18- When t-shirts have a hole in you can just wear them and they still look good on you.
19- When clothes aren’t your colour give them to another little child who might like them, don’t throw them away.
20- I know it’s hard to understand magic tricks, but try anyway and it might work out.
About the Author.
Little Miss Green is a home educated, free spirited seven year old. She likes drawing, reading (Famous Five books are her favourite), writing stories and being out in nature.
If she wins the Ooffoo Laureate prize she is going to put the money towards getting some cards and stickers printed of her drawings to sell in the hope that the joy in her art will bring a smile to the recipient’s face.
On her last Birthday she donated all the money we would have spent on party bags to a charity so that 30 African children could have a simple meal while she was celebrating her special day with friends.
And yes, her Mum unashamedly thinks the world of her

Namaste Little Miss Green! I often think it would be so helpful if ‘World Leaders’ were surrounded by babies most of the time as it would give them a permanent sense of perspective to help them forget the little picture. I asked my 3 year old monkey what he does to make people happy and said ‘Happy Happy’ and made himself smile. Needless to say it made me smile
Cheers Al
Awww, gorgeous Master Tepper; you have it just right. We need to look inside ourselves first to spread love, happiness and gratitude around the world.. Keep smiling that gorgeous smile of yours; it’s infectious you know
Excellent ideas for a better world. I think I should do number 6, as a writer I often get frustrated with my work and make myself sad. Innocent minds do see the world in a better way, maybe there will be hope that the up and coming generations can make a real difference.
Hi Maddy, I hope number 6 works for you – I’m sure your writing is wonderful; creative types tend to be most hard on themselves
I love the innocence of children, it makes my heart soar to hear some of the wisdom they share. Not to mention the hilarious stuff they come out with at times. What sort of writing do you do?
